25th Feb 2006 Scottish CCC Meeting
Minutes of the first meeting held on 25th Feb 2006 of the Scottish Groups campaigning for action on Climate Change, prepared by Almuth Bernsting.
Hello,
Rather than one long set of minutes here, please find a list of 'Who
agreed to do what'(a summary of the meeting to be found in the next
posting):
IMPORTANT: ONCE PEOPLE HAVE MADE CONTACTS, PLEASE LET US ALL KNOW
THE OUTCOME ON THIS E-GROUP!
ALAN - I DON'T KNOW IF WDM MEMBERS ARE ON THIS E-GROUP - PLEASE
FORWARD THIS TO THEM IF THEY ARE NOT.
Members of Dundee WDM agreed to:
Find out about the Falkland Fewtival Stewardship (30th June to 2nd
July) and to send details to me or post them on this egroup).
Contact WDM nationally to ask them to actively campaign against
climate change and mobilise for the demo on 4th November 2006.
Contact John McAllion at Oxfam to ask about Oxfam's support for
climate change campaigning and the 4th November demo (as far as the
Scottish Oxfam office is concerned).
Alex Telford agreed to:
Contact SEAD and ask them to affiliate to the Campaign Against
Climate Change and mention our Scottish groups and the 4th November
demo in their climate change workshops.
Discuss possible outreach to schools with SEAD.
John Riley agreed to:
Find out whether Scottish members of Stop Climate Chaos, other than
those contacted by WDM members and Tony, have decided whether to
organise a 4th November demo in Scotland or to join the one in
London. Rachel Nunn of Stop Climate Chaos may be able to provide
that information to John.
Tony agreed to:
Contact Christian Aid and Amnesty International in Scotland to ask
them to work closely with us and to discuss their plans for the 4th
November demo.
Almuth agreed to:
Contact the STUC to ask about doing a stall or break-out session at
their annual conference in April.
Find out via Rachel Nunn whether the Church of Scotland might
support the 4th November demo at their AGM.
Post links to Aberdeen materials and other useful resources on this
e-group.
An Edinburgh member (sorry, I forgot who, Alex I think)
To contact Edinburgh Presbytery and to ask them about putting a
motion to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.
Best wishes,
Almuth
